Unlike some of the Georgians who built Bath, we take as much care over the back as the front, and when we’re done we hand all of it over, written down, so whoever comes next can carry on without us.
Do good work for good people.
Before we recommend anything, we’ll start with what you need and, if you’re happy for us to, spend time with the people who use the kit every day, because they know what gets in their way.
We’ve no favourite platform and no answer decided in advance. If what you’ve got already does the job, we’ll say so and leave it alone.
Three things we do.
Endpoint & mobility.
We look after Macs, Windows PCs, iPhones, iPads and Android devices, and know Jamf Pro and Microsoft Intune especially well, having run both for years. We also take on the one-off jobs IT teams usually bring someone in for, like a directory migration or a move between mobile device management (MDM) platforms. Whatever we change goes to a few test devices first, then a handful of willing guinea pigs, and only then everyone else.

Cloud & infrastructure.
We set up and secure Microsoft 365 and Azure, along with the sign-in, access and phone systems that go with them. Most of the work is migration, and done properly that means staff go home on a Friday and come back on Monday to find their email, files and phone numbers exactly where they left them. The only difference they should notice is that it’s all rather harder for anyone else to get into.

Web & app development.
We design and build web applications ourselves, from the first sketch to the finished thing running live, and mostly they’re the tools an organisation needs but can’t buy off the shelf. More and more of it involves getting data out of systems that were never meant to talk to each other. AI comes into it occasionally, when there’s a real job for it to do.

£750 per consultant-day
A day is 7.5 hours, and we bill in half-days. You’ll have an estimate before any work starts. If the job changes along the way, and jobs do, we’ll send a revised one and wait for your go-ahead before carrying on.
We know £750 a day is a lot of money for a charity, and how far every pound has to stretch. Charities and other non-profits in and around Bath can pay much less, so please don’t let the rate put you off. Much of what makes Bath a good place to live is done by volunteers and small organisations running on goodwill and very little money, and helping them is the most useful thing we can do with what we know.
What it might cost.
Tick whatever sounds like your project; it doesn’t need to be exact. Each item is how long that kind of work usually takes us, charged at £750 a day, so it’ll give you a reasonable idea, but it isn’t a quote.
Many local charities and non-profits pay much less than this. We’ll talk it through with you.

Built to be inherited.
John Wood laid the first stone of the Circus in 1754 and died a few months later. His son finished it, and it has been lived in ever since by people who never had to meet either of them. We’re a couple of miles up the Avon in Batheaston, and almost everything we build, set up or migrate ends up in someone else’s hands too, whether that’s a new IT manager, another agency or a committee of volunteers.
So we make things that are easy to follow and pleasant to use, and finish them properly, including the bits nobody was ever going to look at. We use standard parts wherever a standard exists, test thoroughly so the next person can change things without worrying about breaking them, and write it all down. Nothing depends on one person remembering how it works, or on us being around to keep it running, and nobody gets locked into a platform that costs a fortune to leave. At the end of a job you get everything: the code, the accounts, the passwords and keys, and notes on why we did things the way we did. If a job can’t be done like that, we’ll tell you before we start.
Peter started out on the repair bench at Apple and has spent more than twelve years in the public sector, where he now leads an engineering team looking after thousands of Macs, PCs and mobile devices, and the cloud services behind them. He set up Bath Limited in 2022 to do the same work for organisations without one of their own. He lives in Batheaston, where he’s a parish councillor and a trustee of the village charity Grow Batheaston.
